| When
antibiotics are taken, the good bacteria are often killed
along with the disease-causing ones. This leaves yeast, such
as Candida which is not affected by antibiotics, to grow
unrestrained, proliferating and overrunning the intestinal
tract. Candida albicans is yeast (or fungus) that normally
inhabits our digestive system. Normally, the population of
candida is in healthy balance with other intestinal flora.
However, sometimes its population explodes because of various
factors such as an improper diet, bursts of intense stress
or ongoing low-grade stress that isn’t managed effectively
combined with poor sleep/exercise routines or antibiotics
or oral contraceptives—any dietary or lifestyle imbalances
that compromise natural immunity can result in the yeast
bacteria getting out of control and escaping the bounds of
its normal abodes to other parts of the body. A high-sugar
diet encourages the overgrowth of the candida organisms.
Symptoms may be caused by Candida?
Do you crave sugar, have a bloated abdomen or abdominal
pain?
Feel bad "all over," yet the cause can't be identified
and treatment of many kinds hasn't helped.
Do you have a white coating on your tongue or inside your
mouth?
Are bothered by persistent or recurrent symptoms involving
your digestive and nervous systems.
Do you feel 20 to 30 years older than you really are?
For topical applications and for those with fat malabsorption
the lipase-rich coconut milk can be expected to be much
more useful than heated coconut oil with only a very low
concentration of free fatty acids. Alternatively, you may
use lipase supplements with coconut oil. Sweet, heavy,
cold foods overtax an already weakened digestive system
and create mote internal toxins. Coconut oil appears to
be useful within days. With Candida take initially 4 tablespoons
of coconut oil spread out during the day, and after improvement
you may reduce this to 2 tablespoons for several more weeks.
This seems to be effective against systemic as well as
localised infestations, including those of the genitals.
However, it is advisable to apply coconut oil topically
as well.
One of the good things about lauric acid in virgin coconut
oil is that it kills lipid-coated bacteria but does not
appear to harm the friendly intestinal bacteria.
Candida albicans is a yeast-like fungus that lives in
the mouth and throat, the intestinal tract and the genital
tract. There is good research now that shows the medium
chain fatty acids in coconut oil kill candida yeast.
